Reflective blog & Padlet wall

In this module, I know that each student is required to write an online reflective blog to reflect on the study for integrated project. Writing blog post become a hardest thing for me as I did not share my thought through google blogger before.   Our lecturer told us that an excellent reflective blog should reflect self opinion toward the experience, how it change your mind and how you will respond it. However, it is not easy for a person to share their thoughts in the open networking.  It is no point of published a post if  make a private setting to “only blog author can read the post”.  So, I will learn how to make use of google blog to share my experience and personal knowledge  to readers who view my blog.  Reader is free to comment on what I have posted in this blog and I believe that I can exchange new information as well as knowledge from reader comments.

Padlet wall is something similar to online blog. It is a useful tool that allows people to express their thoughts on a common topic easily.  People can put any content such as  images, videos, documents and  text. After involving  Padlet wall in this assignment,  I believe that  I will use padlet wall when conducting a meeting in future. This is because padlet wall able me to include many information and picture in more attractive ways compare to what I used last time that is Microsoft power point.

Overview- site visit

We had a site visit to the Maltida street this week during the seminar session to investigate the site  to complete our assignment. Our lecturer told us that this property is owned by Sheffield Hallam Univeristy and use for storage, which considered to redevelopment in order to maximize the investment potential. Thus, we are required to create a better solution for the property. It took about 10 minutes walk to the site from Sheffield Hallam University follow the maps that provided by the lecturer.

The back view of the building and it is three storey high.

There are an open carpark beside the building.

The building is mainly used for storage by the University.

There is a serious dampness appear on the ceiling of the building.

Serious wall creaking at level 3.
From the observation throughout the site visit, it is clearly shown that the building is lack of maintenance work which resulting common building defect especially on the ceiling and wall. In my opinion, common building defects can be prevented by carrying out maintenance work regularly. Due to the defects occurred in the building, it is a key consideration on the issue of refurbish the existing building or demolish for a new development.
