Before and after refurbishment
We plan to demolish the existing building located at Matilda
street instead of refurbish it for this assignment before attend the lecture
and seminar. In Malaysia, employer tends to demolition the old building and
rebuilds a new building in order to achieve client needs. After attending the class, it change our decision
of refurbishment instead of demolish. Why? This is because demolition required higher
cost compare to refurbish. Besides that, we discover that the property in
Matilda Street still in acceptable conditions. The main reason that affect the
decision of refurbishment or demolition is depends on the condition of the building
itself. Building with a lot of defects required
high cost to refurbish but the existing building at Matilda street still in acceptable
condition which only few defect due to lack of maintenance.
This week lecture and seminar not only enhance my knowledge
regarding the factors that affect the decision of adaptation and refurbishment,
it also improves my decision making technique.
